The Offspring
On days where you just need music, The Offspring is the place to go. Their music is the most mood initiating music I've ever heard. You can really here what kind of mood Dexter Holland (Lead Vocalist) is in. It also can change my mood from happy to sad, or from sad to happy. People usually say they are a cross between the "Amazing" Metallica, Linkin Park, and Blink-182. If you like any of these bands you should really check them out.

The Storm
Halestorm is a newer band that is quickly rising to fame. The band was started by Lzzy Hale and Arejay Hale (Lzzy is singer and Arejay is drummer.) Their music is usually a more hardcore kind of rock. I have really started liking the Drop D tuning sound on my guitar. I recently learned their hit song "Love Bites (So Do I)." It has a complicated intro, but the rest is a walk in the park. I'm going to continue following what this band does for times to come.

94.3 Kilo
One of the best broadcasters of music to the world is the radio. They let you listen to all genre's of music at the push of a button. Personally, my favorite station is 94.3 Kilo. It plays the best music and has cool features that other stations don't have. A feature that I really like is "Krank it or Kram it"(Spelled like it is in the broadcast.) In this feature they play songs from artists that aren't very known, and people call in and vote (Krank it = Good, Kram it = Bad.) As a whole this station is amazing. I will hopefully continue to listen to it for years to come.

Rock of Ages
"Rock of Ages"
The movie shown above is the first rock musical/movie I have ever seen. I've seen the hit "Greece," but never something like this. Though I think it would be a hard hitter to those who grew up on 80's music, I liked it a lot. They added comedy and weird twists that made it fun to watch. Also it helped that I knew almost 100% of the songs in the movie. Overall "Rock of Ages" is a 9.8/10 for me. I would rewatch it in a heartbeat.

Country Guitar
I know the title doesn't sound like it should fit in my blog, but it is perfect for it. Country was really the first genre to start putting a huge stress on guitar. Mainly because artists would play acoustically and sing. After about 10 years, rock music started leaning on the guitar leading the pack. This made a huge impact on rock for years to come and even now. The actual "Country Guitar" is a Gibson 580. It is varied in many ways, but all guitars still have some tie to the guitar. Country guitar shaped rock music drastically.

The Band that Almost Faded.
On February 19, 1980, the lives of many changed. The people that got hit the hardest were the band members of AC/DC. Their lead singer had passed away. Bon Scott was an amazing singer, with his famous quote, "We just want to make the walls cave in and the ceiling collapse. Music is meant to be played as loudly as possible, really raw and punchy, and I'll punch out anyone who doesn't like it the way I do." AC/DC was quick to find a new singer. Filling in in 1981 was Brian Johnson. He had a depper, more crackly voice, but the band loved it. Ever since the vocals change AC/DC has just gotten more popular. "They are a band and a show," said one of the reporters for Rolling Stone. Angus Young just makes you feel that much better about yourself. I feel AC/DC will continue to be big for a long time. Brian Johnson will continue to amaze us.

Rock Opera
As of five years ago, the description of rock was broadened a little bit more. First came Black Death, a band that showed a unique choir, in a rock atmosphere. Then came Luca Turilli; a band that set a new pathway to your Ipod. They take 10 amazing singers, and combine it with the hard hitting notes of the rock band. It almost feels like you are in a race. This new genre is sure to get more and more popular as it continues.

Who, Who are you?
Have you ever seen the TV show CSI? Well if you have, you probably know who these guys are. The Who, an English Rock Band, was popular in the late 60's-70's. They are the makers of the intro song to many TV shows including CSI. They have music that hits the ears of a wide variety of people. Also, one of their best known performances was in 2010 at the Super Bowl. Lately they have been on an up and down journey, but I hope that is soon to change with their new album coming out.

My Start
Back in 2009 is when I started playing guitar. Rhett, Cameron, and Chance came to me and asked if I would like to be in a band with them. That sparked a light in my head saying, "Hey I may be famous someday." We didn't really start taking it seriously until this year. We got a new drummer that was willing to commit. After that, it has gone uphill; we even learned covers of songs in a week. Mainly we make our own songs ("Wait," "Alone," "Best Thing," and "Flag Flies,") but recently we learned "Rock You Like A Hurricane" and "Summer of '69." It has really been a fun experience, and I'm looking forward to the rest of my career.

Fair Weekend
Everyone loves when fair week comes around. My band played, as well as the Justin Lane Band. I think that the Justin Lane Band brought a new view to country. They talked to us and gave us tips. Also, they told us if we ever need help to call them. This was amazing. Not only were they an awesome band, but they gave us moral support too. I think that more bands could act in this manner.

Small Bands
Around the world there are probably thousands of bands. Some are good, and some are not. The band I'm in is one of these small bands. People usually just downgrade small bands as nothing. Usually people tend to do this because they think if they're not famous they're not worth it. Many are not famous because of one simple thing, money. The cost of playing in different towns, or even recording new songs is very expensive($150 Dollars an Hour.) All in all, I think sometimes people overlook smaller bands. Here are some pictures of my band and an article about prices.http://www.passionrecordingstudio.com/pricing.htm

A Lasting Legacy
Many bands leave a fragment of themselves, and other bands capitalize on their strengths. The Beatles are one of the most amazing bands that rock and roll has seen. They are idols for me that I really wish I could have met. Here is an article that tells a little about The Beatles. I think the points it expresses are really good. A quote from the article that I find helps me express their legacy " It was the Beatles who established the long playing album as an artistic medium that showcased interesting songs and compelling performances with no discernible duplication or flagging of inspiration through almost 10 years." This showcases other people's views toward this, and again, The Beatles are truly an amazing band.

The Start
Rock wasn't started by the American idols you think of. Elvis Presley usually pops into your head, but he didn't start it. An African American man named Chuck Berry started it all. This is a really big issue that people have they usually go by the most popular person, but that's not the case here....Chuck Berry started the new genre here. Here is an article that is a very biased about Elvis. There are many articles like this, but just remember the real start of rock was Chuck Berry.

Rock History
One of the most changing and diverse things found in our lives is music. Music is a passion; a driving force to succeed for many. Rock just hapens to fall into the catergory. It ranges from the mellow beatles to the hardcore screamo of today. With a little high pitched "Yeahs" in between. The changes are drastic, but the sound is still as sweet as a homeade cake. For generations yet to come, it will still be changing. This is just a preview of the reasons Rock is close to my heart.
